Happy Birthday Adrian

Sorry folks kept you waiting an extra week this week but we're all feeling a lot better so we've been rushing around with work and lots of visiting!

Last weekend we spent Saturday morning in the gardens with Ben and his mum Linda before an afternoon of visiting friends Nigel and Cat and their little boy Sam who was delightful as always. Then we had a pizza night with Jeremy, Anna, Libby and Simon, Val, Al, Tyler and Jessica. It was great but raucous with all the children, and I did laugh to myself thinking of us all pre-children having lovely sophisticated dinner parties in the old days! Sunday morning Adrian took the boys on their Sunday adventure to Fidels, Te Papa and then to the skateboard park to watch the skaters and the boys were fascinated and sat watching for ages. Jack then asked "daddy, could you ask those boys if I can borrow a skateboard?"......ahhhh. Then in the afternoon we headed to Marc, Tis and baby Fynn's for the afternoon.

This week of course was dominated by Adrian's birthday on Wednesday, I think the boys were more excited than daddy (possibly because all birthday's must involve cake) so Adrian finished work early and we had a little family party with Jeremy, Anna, Simon and Libby coming over and had chocolate cake that the boys and I made, fairy bread, jammy dodgers, cherio's with sauce and Adrian's favourite egg mayonaise sandwiches. It was a lovely party and that night Adrian and I even managed a nice night out in town to celebrate in adult style with wine and beer involved.

It's been so busy for us with work this week that we were really looking forward to this weekend and had perfect weather for a great day at the beach eating icrecream and visits to the park. Adrian and I also had a great night out on Saturday for our friend Al's 40th birthday which he had on the Eastbourne Ferry which he booked for the night, it was an open bar with pizza for everyone and it was a perfect still night on the water (thank god!). We headed out to Sommes Island where we stopped for 3 hours then back to Wellington before midnight, it was a great night but free drinks are a great idea at the time but a bad idea the next morning!

Cute stories for the week: I went to the toilet while the boys were in the bath and Tom looked at me and laughed - "what's funny" I asked and he giggled and said "you have really big underpants mummy" (I'm buying some g-strings this week!)

Jack woke up from a nap this week and I asked him if he had a nice dream, he got really upset and when I asked him why he cried and said "I forgot, I forgot to have a dream mummy".

The boys told me in the car this week that they were looking forward to going home with daddy "cause he's gonna tickle us", I said "he's a good tickler isn't he" and they replied "yeh, he's a better tickler than you mummy, he does fast tickles and you only do slow ones", dad's eh!

Pic below, the boys are really into cutting with sissors at the moment especially Tom, when I said to him he was a really good chopper, he said "I'm not chopping mummy I'm sissoring!"

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY...sneeze, cough, sniff, wipe fevered brow...

It was a very quiet week with lots of staying inside looking after sick boys during the week and by Friday night I had officially caught it as well so spent a weekend feeling very miserable and sorry for myself. My lovely husband looked after me by taking the boys on an adventure all day Saturday and leaving me to sleep and sleep and sleep and cough and sneeze and sleep some more.

They had a fabulous day at Te papa, the park, stopping at cafes and shopping for mother's day. Adrian was in absolute hysterics as he gave them each $2 to find something for me in the $2 shop and told them they could choose it themselves. They went crazy and kept running up to him and saying "mummy would really like one of these" and it would be a fly swat or a pack of 200 toothpicks! They did very well in the end though after he convinced them of what might be better!

Sunday morning was mother's day and I was feeling a lot better and after being brought breakfast in bed (which I managed to eat a little of) and Adrian took me and the boys to Staglands for a mother's day treat. We had a lovely time and the boys had so much fun with all the animals and stopping for picnics in the sun. The highlight for the boys was that they had a ride on a pony and loved it! They haven't stopped talking about it since and it was so lovely to watch them and realise how big they are and how much they can do now.

Thanks for a lovely mother's day from my gorgeous family and promise I'll get better this week X

PS - top pic looks so much like Hackbridge I had to put it in :)

Brrrrr....been feeling the winter weather coming in this week but managed a few warm days even so.

This week's highlight for the boys was going to their friend Aeneas' 3rd Birthday party on Friday afternoon. It was a huge feast of party food and cake so it was lucky the sun was shinning and it they screamed around on their bikes and got rid of most of their sugar induced crazyness outside.

Saturday we all had a run around at the park in the morning before having lunch with Olga at her apartment (she is staying with the other Peruvian's in apartments now until she goes home in July when her course is finished). She made us a lovely lunch and of course lots of sweet things for her and the boys and they in turn trashed her apartment, jumped on her bed and had a great time dancing to music in her living room.

Saturday night we had some friends for dinner which was lovely but we did suffer the late night the next morning. Sunday morning we woke up to Jack not being very well "mummy I'm not very well today" and the weather was cold and windy so he spent most of the day tucked up inside. I ventured out when he had a little sleep with Tom to take some dinners to Jeremy and Anna and he also had a visit to the park with daddy in the afternoon but we were pretty homebound most of the day which was quite nice and relaxing really. He woke up this morning and bounded out of bed saying could I take his "temp'a'ta and give him some more medicine?" (the boys love the taste of pamol!) so think he's over the worst of it and now we'll wait for the rest of us to get it no doubt.

Well have a good week folks x.

We had a wonderful long weekend this week with a very special guest visiting - Aunty Liz.

Liz arrived on Thursday afternoon and the boys were so excited to pick her up from the airport and even more excited by the presents she had brought when we got home! Liz and I spent a lovely evening with lots of red wine and catching up on Thursday night which was lovely. Friday morning we had breakfast at Fidels and spent the rest of the morning shopping and having morning tea before picking up the boys. Friday evening and we had a surprise visit from Olga who joined us for dinner and some wine of course and made us all laugh as usual.

Saturday morning was Liz's birthday so the boys and I made a chocolate cake in the morning before we headed off with the boys to the library in the pouring rain and left the boys with Adrian while I took Liz for lunch to the Long Bar for a delicious Malaysian lunch. We had a lazy afternoon before Chris and Sue joined us for fish and chips and birthday cake that evening - and of course far too much red wine again!

Sunday morning Adrian took the boys to the park while Liz helped me with the housework including my ironing which I NEVER do and so it's a bit of a treat looking at all the beautifully ironed clothes in the wardrobe (hope Adrian doesn't get used to that!) we had a visit to Jeremy and Anna in the afternoon and then Liz then flew home Sunday night.

It was so lovely to see you Liz and we had a fantastic time, thanks for coming and for spoiling the boys so wonderfully!

This just in.... Jeremy and Anna had a bouncing baby boy last night (1st May at 8:00pm) called Simon Nicholas, he weighs in at 4kg's mum, dad, libby and baby all doing brilliantly - congratulations!!
