Happy Birthday husband......

it was Adrian's birthday this week and when Tuesday rolled around we managed to spoil him all day and thanks to Uncle Chris and Aunty Sue we had a night at the movies watching the De Vinci Code that evening. We also had a big night out with all our friends on Friday night which was great, it was nice to catch up with everyone as we don't get out like we used to, and it was worth the sore heads and weak stomachs on Saturday morning. Saturday morning was non-stop rain so we spent the day trying to entertain the boys all bundled up for the weather and visited the mega pet shop (always a hit) and we all had a little sleep that afternoon!

Sunday morning we went to Lollipops and met the boys friend Ben there which they loved, they get so excited to see each other and jump around giggling. That afternoon it cleared up and we got some jobs done around the house, Adrian managed to do some gardening with a little help from some little people.

Earlier this week the boys and I visited a friend with twin boys the same age exactly as Tom and Jack and one of them is even called Thomas (it confused everyone). It was really great to watch them playing as little pairs and the boys really enjoyed themselves.

Sunday again already!

It's been another lovely week of family visitors this week with the special visit of my Uncle Michael on Wednesday. The boys had a very exciting afternoon with Michael and my Great Aunty Joan who came with him for the visit. For those of you who don't know him, Michael is deaf and the boys haven't stoped talking about their Uncle Michael who (as the boys say) "does drawing and has broken ears". Michael very patiently drew picture after picture for the boys and it took me right back to being a little girl myself and Michael drawing pictures for me and my brothers of anything we could think of for hours on end.

We've had another busy weekend with the boys. Saturday we went to a friends little boy's Christening which was lovely, at the part of the ceremony where the candle was lit for little Leo the boys stood up and in unison sang very loudly "Happy Birthday to you" (made sense to me), the priest was quite taken with the boys so at the end of the service he asked the boys if they would like to blow out the big candle which was very exciting, they then wandered over to the remembrance candles and started trying to blow them out - sometimes mummy's can run really fast! After the all the Christening festivities and cake the boys refused to sleep so we gave up and decided to head for the park and meet up with the boys friend Ben. It was a beautiful warm afternoon and the boys ran from one end of the playing fields to the other chasing each other with Jack and Tom shouting "Play Rugby", "All Blacks" (I don't know where they get that from honest!).

Adrian took the boys for their Sunday coffee and walk with Daddy this morning while I frantically looked for birthday presents for a certain someone. After lunch (and the boys thankfully long sleep) we all headed to the library which is always fun. The boys had their "baby-chinos" which are fluffy milk in a proper cup and saucer - very exciting and then home for dinner.

Our exceptionally clever Jack has been using the potty successfully for a few days now - yeah. Tonight he gave it to Daddy very proudly when he'd finished saying "not water Daddy - weeez".

Sorry for the wait folks – two weeks worth this Sunday…

We’ve had a great few weeks with a very special visitor to the SOD household “Aunty Liz”, she stayed for a week and it was wonderful. The boys adored having her here and have been waking up every morning asking for “Aunty Liz” since she left. We’ve had a lot of spoiling little boys, red wines, girls lunches and shopping trips and it was magic. We didn’t want her go home and have been missing her ever since.

Adrian has been really busy at work but this weekend has managed to get the dishwasher plumbing done and we are all really pleased that we can now load the dishwasher instead of doing them by hand (sorry Liz next time you visit you won’t have to do any dishes!!).

It’s been such a busy time with visitors and family dinners that the boys have been having a lot of fun and entertainment being the centre of attention. They are really becoming little characters now and make us laugh hysterically. The Wiggles are the coolest thing in our house at the moment and after Aunty Liz buying them a Wiggles dvd they spend hours asking “Where’s Jeff?” and singing “Hot Potato, Hot Potato”…..it’s a worry when you find yourself singing their songs at work and in the shower…

It’s Mothers Day today here in NZ and I have had a wonderful day, I was allowed to sleep in until 7:30 (that’s a big treat for me) and then a brunch on my own with the newspaper at Fidels. We all came home for lunch and I got to have 2 hours of painting so have finished my entry for this years Affordable Art (fingers crossed everyone that I get in again this year). My evening, week and year has been topped off tonight by Tom saying “Love you” as I tucked him into bed tonight – a mother’s day I will never forget!
