Another cold wintery week this week and a really busy weekend. Friday we had a lovely visit from our friend Tis and baby Fynn, the boys loved finding him toys and I managed to get rid of 3 bags of baby clothes from the garage which makes Adrian happy. Adrian and I managed a night out on Friday night but we were very sensible and got a bus home at 10:00pm so I was very proud of us!

Saturday morning I had a friends baby shower in Eastbourne so Adrian took the boys off on an adventure for the day getting the bus into town to the "City and Sea" museum and a good wander around town (including going up and down the glass elevator pretending to be spacemen and making daddy feel sick).

Sunday morning we had a million jobs around the house before we headed to Uncle Chris and Aunty Sue's for a fabulous roast dinner with apple pie and to admire their gorgeous new car which the boys proceeded to put a handful of stones on top off...... what goes through kids minds ehhhhh. We headed home in the afternoon for a final visit from Olga who is heading home to Peru this week. It was very sad to say goodbye but great for her to see her family again after so long away, farewell and lots of love to you and your family Olga, see you in Peru next time.

Cute story for the week: The boys are getting very excited about their birthday coming up and we are planning their cakes and invitations. When we were putting the boys to bed tonight Jack suddenly asked "Mummy can you ring Father Christmas?", "Why" I asked, "to see if he can come to my birthday"....... aahhhh if only.

Jack also told a great joke today, we were talking about the noises different animals make and Jack said what goes "sssnnnnnnooorr (snoring noise), wooooossh?", "what" we asked, "a sleeping whale!"....I thought that was really funny! (the kind of joke Micky J and Adrian would make up and laugh over!)

With all the cold weather we've been having indoor picnics this week and pretending to be outside, this pic is at the seaside complete with sandcastles, whales and seagulls - can't you see them!
Thinking about you Grandad Frank and hope you feel better soon, sending all our love XXXXXXXX

Rain, rain, go away....no really bugger off!

As you can tell we've had days and days of autumn rain this week which has meant lots of cowering inside to keep warm and dry but sometimes it's nice and cosy to snuggle in and watch kids movies for the afternoon!

Saturday Adrian took the boys out for their boys morning to Te Papa and to hang out "at daddy's work" which they loved before we headed to Jeremy and Anna's for a fish and chip supper. Adrian had to work through the night and most of Sunday so it was pretty quiet for the rest of us with some visitors (inside of course) and playing with every peice of playdoh, lego, puzzles and story in the house.

Adrian and I managed to see Pirates of the Carribean 3 last night which we thought was pretty average but lots of eye candy for me so worth the effort for that and the popcorn.

Not much else to report this quiet week so have a good one X

Cute stories for the week:

Tom made a rocket ship out of a peice of paper this week and showed Jack. Jack said "it's paper though really isn't it mummy",. "Well you can imagine it's anything you like" I said. Jack replied "can we image it's paper"........well I suppose.

Each night after our books we make up a story for the boys (usually starring Jack and Tom). Adrian forgot to do this last week and Tom got very upset saying "daddy forgot to do the story with no pages".

Bye bye Grandad

Sad news last week when my grandfather "Tom" passed away. He had a great full life and was 93 so it was expected but still sad none the less. We headed down to the funeral in Milton (just past Dunedin) on the weekend stopping at Christchurch on the way. We took the ferry across which was really exciting for the boys and then headed to Chch. It was wonderful to see Uncle Austin and Aunty Liz who the boys adored, they spent most of the time asking Austin to play in his race-cars (which he did) and we had a great time. Adrian also managed to take the boys to the museum in Chch on Sunday afternoon (I remember sitting on this horse when I was a girl - pic right) before we had a bbq with Uncle Peter, Aunty Judy and Uncle Michael.

Monday we headed down to Milton stopping along the way in Ashburton which had a great playground including a huge castle that Tom fell badly flat on his face and when he took his hand away from his face it was covered in blood, thoughts of spending the day at the hospital fixing broken noses flashed through our minds but these boys are so bullet proof after a bit of bleeding it was all fine and we headed south again. As we drove away Jack turned to Tom and said “are you ok now?”, “yeah” said Tom, “have you stopped bleeding now?”, “yeah” said Tom, “that’s good” said Jack – we’d forgotten he would be frightened by it all! Next stop was Moeraki to see the boulders which was lovely but much more exciting was finding a sting ray that had been washed up on the beach.

Once we arrived in Milton it was wonderful to catch up with all the family including my grandmother (Nanny Nora) and my Uncles Karl and Peter, Aunty Val and Aunty Sandy and my cousin Fiona and her daughter Jordan, Colin, Tange, Rocky, TJ and Nikia. The boys also loved staying in a motel and loved the spa bath!

Tuesday was the funeral (and also my grandmother’s birthday) and it all went really well, I was very brave along with my cousin Fiona and we did our speeches on behalf of the grandchildren and we were also pallbearers so I think grandad would have been very proud of us! The boys were fascinated with it all and still haven't worked out why "my grandad got into the box". Tom was convinced they were talking about him the whole time and was very upset when it was over and he didn't get to a "turn to tell a story". We then had a lovely afternoon tea and Tom and Jack loved the cake and treats and turned to Adrian saying "this is a great party daddy" (my grandmother loved that!).

We said our goodbyes to everyone on Tuesday and headed back to Chch for the night before heading off to the ferry again on Thursday. The boys did exceptionally well considering all the hours of driving and absolutely loved seeing all the family and being the centre of attention! We had such a lovely time with all the family, thanks so much to everyone who housed us, fed us, cleaned up after us and played tea parties and eye-spy X
