Here comes summer.... lots of lovely sunshine, picnics and ice-creams this week.

Last weekend Adrian was really busy so the boys and I headed off the the model train exhibition (if your wondering it was full of the kind of people who go to these things.... you know what I mean!!). Then to the Xmas parade, it was a brilliant parade this year and the boys loved it, especially as their friend Alex came along and daddy met us there.

During the week my girlfriend Louise who works for the RSPCA took the boys and I to their puppy training to get the puppies used to small unpredictable children (sounds like ours). The boys loved the puppies and were so good with them doing everything Louise asked them and I just wanted to take all the puppies home of course! They're been playing "puppy trainers" all week since then.

This weekend we did a lot of work in the garden while Batman and Spiderman helped before our movie night "Jungel Book" *********/10 and then we headed to Jeremy's for a family bbq which was great but 4 three year old boys are bloody loud!!

Sunday we did some more work in the garden until we headed off into the sunshine for our picnic dinner in the sun....lovely

Have a great week everyone X

Heh spiderman, why is your waist so high and my undies so big!?

The weekend before last started with a great night for me going with some girlfriends to see the fabulously wonderful Hollie Smith which was brilliant concert (for those who know the movie No2 she is the brilliant singer who does “Bathe Me in the River”. Saturday morning we had our first trip to the Karori Sanctuary for their "Spider Day". The boys love spiders and so we went along to check it out and although it was a horrible cold wet day it was worth it for a great walk around and we all loved it, especially the boat ride on the lake. Who knew all this was on our doorstep and we’d never ventured there before! Our movie night was “Toy Story” the original ********/10, the boys are still obsessed with this movie so it was ‘to infinity and beyond" all week as usual. Adrian had a night out with the “boys” on Saturday night so had a great time and was feeling a little tired on Sunday morning!

Sunday we had a great time at the boys friend Alex's birthday party (birthdays are always a hit!) and then Adrian was very brave taking the boys and their friend Aeneas to Te Papa for the afternoon on their own…..bliss for me and his mum to have coffee and no children (we could actually have a conversation!) . The little girl in this picture that Adrian is holding onto is Lauren, Adrian is completely in love with Lauren and gets all clucky with her - I think the feeling is mutual!

Last week started with Guy Fawkes night which is a bit different here when it's still light at your bedtime so we all had our dinner in the garden in the gorgeous
sunshine and played some rugby before we set of some small fireworks to great excitement (sparklers are really exciting when your 3).

I was also on Jury Service last week so there was a lot of waiting around and reading my book but I did get on a case with a 17 year old boy who had done something stupid and started a fire in a house with his mates and all I kept thinking was - this is my vision of the future with 2 boys who will one day be teenagers!!.

We've now all managed to get what we hope is the last cold of the year so we were all feeling sorry for ourselves and Adrian was flat out with work so although we managed a few trips out this weekend it was very quiet. Saturday the boys had a morning at the park and then the afternoon at their friend Allegra’s house having a great time playing dress ups and jumping on their trampoline before coming home to watch “Hercules” ********/10.

Cute stories for the week:

Jack is started to get competitive lately and one of his teachers told me that she overheard a great conversation between Jack and his best friend Elyse:

Elyse “I’ve got a vagina cos I’m a girl and you don’t have one cos you’re a boy”
Jack “No I’ve got a penis”
Elyse “My mummy’s a girl and she’s got a vagina too”
Jack “My mummy’s a girl and she’s got a vagina and a penis!”

Uuuuummmmmmmm

When my cold was at its worst this week I was lying down feeling sorry for myself and Jack was “looking after me”. He said “You can stay in bed all the time mummy”. “Lovely” I said. He walked out and then back in again looking worried and said “no you can’t mummy”, I asked him why and he said “cos who will make my dinner?” always food with these boys!

I had to include this picture as its Tom at the library reading an asterix book – it looks just like daddy doing the same thing……ahhhh

If only the dishes were so exciting when you are 16....
