Goodbye Grandad Frank

Sadly the boys have lost both great-grandad’s in the space of a month when Adrian’s grandfather Frank passed away last week. It was very sad as he was so loved and our world seems a much sadder place without him in it to make us smile. Adrian will be heading to the funeral in Ireland so he can say goodbye with all the family – lots of love to you all .
"Anei tatou na ko te pa ano tatou na he ra ki tua”
Here we are in the night but the day is soon to follow. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Life is continuing here with the boys starting their French classes last week (pic left) which they really enjoyed, they are now starting to test mummy and daddy’s memories though asking what’s French for motorbike and cuddle…. have to get the dictionary out I think!

The weather has been off and on here with miserable rain followed by bright sunshine but we had a great day out at Te Papa last week where Adrian and Jack made this brilliant hand at the craft table while Tom and I played shops in the Discovery Centre. We’ve also managed some trips out on the bikes which the boys are slowly getting better at.

Saturday night family movie nights are still a roaring success, we’ve been rating them so far as follows out of ten **********

Shrek 2 ********
Monster’s Inc *******
Hoodwinked *****
Over the Hedge ******

Adrian and I watched a brilliant movie this week for anyone looking for a good dvd called “Pan’s Labyrinth” it’s subtitled but definitely worth it - 10 out of **********

Cute stories for the week:
We went to buy a pair of trousers for me this weekend and Tom asked me “why do you need trousers mummy?’ “Cos I don’t have any” I said. “yeah you’ve got a skirt on today haven’t you mum, is that for twirling”…… Not normally something I’m known to do!!

The boys were playing “Tom and Jack - Brother Policemen” in the bath tonight and Tom said to Jack, “we’re brothers” and Jack replied “and you’re my friend too”…. Ahh mummy got a bit teary on that one!

Love to all the family missing Frank XXXXXXXXX

Happy Birthday Our Lovely Boys!!

Can you believe it 3!! We certainly can't. The boys have been celebrating their birthday "week". After such a huge build up and great excitement it was a huge week of celebrations.

Tuesday arrived for the boys to open their presents and talk to Grandma and Grandad on the computer and it was a lovely morning the boys loved all their presents expecially their new bikes. They had their party at creche that morning (first of the 6 cakes to be made!!). That evening we had fish and chips and cake birthday tea with the family including Jeremy, Anna, Libby, Simon, Uncle Chris and Aunty Sue. Adrian also got to unveil his present to boys with Alistair who have been working on a fort for the boys on top of the old outside toilet which they loved (see pic).

Friday night I spent making their choice of cakes (Dragon and Spider...hmmm took a lot of planning and work these ones!) and got ready for our party on Saturday morning. We had 21 children for the party and then all of them and parents into the show "the Paper Shaper" which they loved. It was a wonderful party and the boys had a brilliant time, it was a really lovely but exhausting day.

Today was finally sunny and we had a great morning on the new bikes before heading to Staglands for a great run around with Aeneas and Maria.

Thanks to all of you who spoilt the boys so much, they had a great birthday and you are all too generous!

Wet and wild in Wellington.......

Friday was a "teacher only day" last week so I had a lovely extra day with the boys. I took them to Story Time at the Library and then for a coffee and play around before meeting Adrian for lunch.

Saturday we headed into town to arrange some boys birthday surprises and and then took the boys to the city art gallery to make some stars for the Matariki (Maori New Year) celebrations so we added their beautiful stars next to all the other 100's (see Adrian's 3D creation in the middle - I didn't put his age on his!).

We had a great Saturday night as it was our inaugural "Saturday night family Movie Night" which was a real hit. We chose Shrek 2 and had popcorn and all snuggled in to watch it. The boys were so excited and have been asking "when do we have movie night again?".

Sunday morning Adrian took the boys for a wet run around Makara Beach and to look at all the wet animals and flooded paddocks. They also tested the 4WD in the flooded roads (glad I wasn't there to panic), before we headed to a local mall for lunch and to look at some birthday presents for the boys which they thought was a brilliant idea.

Pic below taken by Adrian now explains why the boys no longer have pants in their trousers!
