"PLANES, DRAINS AND FLIGHT DELAYS..."

Bit of a week this one!! it was a quiet start to the week when Friday afternoon the boys and I were in the garden and noticed a strange smell and something coming out of a drain close to the side of the house........ominous..... after some investigation it turned out to be waste...yes the sewage coming out and running down the path. I rang the council who arrived in (I'm not joking) 10 minutes to check it out, they were so helpful and put dye in the main sewage lines in the street and checked everything out thoroughly but found that the problem was our drain not theirs (unfrotunately) after trying to clear it for us with their equipment free of charge (I smiled so nicely at them) we had to call an emergency plumber with a special machine...we are now bankrupt but have working plumbing again.....

Saturday was a real treat for me, I found out my girlfirend Lisa from Australia was having a flying visit into NZ in Nelson (top of the south island) and would be staying with another friend Karen for the weekend so plan was hatched and executed and I jumped on a plane on Saturday afternoon to have a fantastic girlie, drink too much, stay up to 2:00am!!!! evening on Sat night. It was brilliant, we talked and laughed loudly all night - luckily Karen lives in the countryside on a beautiful farmlet so no-one could hear us but the pigs and chickens!

Meanwhile the boys had a great evening with Daddy who made them smiley faced Pizza's which they loved - see pic. Sunday morning he took them off on their own advernture up to a friends nursey and farm an hour out of Wellington. They had a brilliant time running around and feeding the chickens and generally running havoc. Adrian arrived to pick me up at the airport with the boys on Sunday afternoon and I didn't arrive as they had cancelled my plane...nightmare so I had to wait for 3 hours (not so bad for me with girlfirends to talk to and coffees at the airport) but there's only so much you can do at the airport with two toddlers after having lunch, looking at luggage racks go around and riding on the trolleys so they were all very pleased to see me when I finally arrived very green after the most bumpy horrible flight I've ever had!

I had a wonderful time thanks Karen and Lisa although I don't think I'll ever drink again!

Cute story for this week, while driving around I turned Tom in the back and asked "do you have poos in your nappy?" He thought seriously for a moment and replied "I do have something in my nappy"

This week started with the boys creche holding a sing-a-long session on Monday evening, it was great to finally know the words to some of the new songs that Adrian and I didn't know. The boys loved it but were pretty exhausted having a late night out.

Adrian had a busy week with the opening of the Opera which meant he had to do some work on the weekend and so the boys and I spent Saturday morning visiting their friend Aneas and brought the boys bikes with them so they could have races up and down crashing into each other and the house.

Sunday morning I did some shopping while Adrian took the boys for their coffee, the boys told me when I met up with them that "Daddy couldn't find a park at Fidels" so they went somewhere different. Mid-morning we headed off to the park to fly the new kites that Adrian had brought since the cheap one was such a success. We had some visitors in the afternoon and had a lazy evening in the sunshine, it was great.

Have a great week all :)

"LET'S GO FLY A KITE"

What a lovely and exhausting weekend. After a busy week work-wise for both of us including a late Friday night for Adrian, Saturday morning was a list of jobs to do around the house. I took the boys for morning tea at Uncle Chris and Aunty Sue's while Adrian ripped up the old carpet in the family room and found all the spots he needs to replace before polishing which is not as bad as we thought it might be. Once the boys were having their nap I nipped out to buy some plants for the garden and the boys and I spent the afternoon planting strawberries, lettuces and veggies and making a hell of a mess! There were lots of snails and spiders and big juicy worms for them to play with while I was digging and when Jack put one worm back into his "house", he told me that "he's going to play with his toys Mummy", what kind of toys do worms play with I asked the boys, Tom looked at me like I was an idiot and said "worm toys mummy". Meanwhile Adrian was flat out cleaning out all the rubbish from the garage to take to the tip including the old carpet. Saturday night Adrian and I were so exhausted we watched a movie and drank some vino it was lovely.

Sunday morning Adrian headed off to the Tip early and the boys and I played some games including driving trains with the kitchen chairs which inspired the decision that we would go on a real train journey when daddy came home. The boys were very excited by the time daddy came home and we all headed off. It was a great trip and very exciting as we headed up to Johnsonville (about 20 mins away) and it was a great journey including plenty of tunnels and the boys had their tickets in their hot little hands and loved handing them to the ticket person who clicked them with the ticket machine.

We had a wander around and then home for lunch and a huge sleep for all the boys of the house and then onto the park this afternoon for kite flying which was great, Ade had brought a kite while we were out and it was windy enough to get the kite up and the boys loved it particularly Thomas who held on really tightly but Jack preferred to let it go and watch mummy and daddy run madly after the handle before it flew away.

Cute story - at afternoon tea time today Thomas was eating all the cheese from a plate of cheese and crackers we were sharing, I said to Tom, "you're a cheese eating monster, I wonder where you get it from " (meaning Adrian who is also a cheese eating monster) - he said, "I got if from here on the plate mummy"!

"Happy Father's Day Daddy"

It's been a great week and weekend culminating with Fathers day on Sunday and the first one that the boys could say it in person, which was really lovely for Adrian.

It was a busy work week again this week when Friday finally arrived with another accident in the household. Tom was running madly around and fell on his front teeth with a decent bang and a big scream followed by lots of blood so it was an emergency trip to the dentist. Jack was really excited because I dropped him at daddy's work on the way to the dentist and he packed all his toy tools in his little backpack and went to "help daddy at work", he was jumping up and down with excitement especially when he found out they would come home on the bus. Tom was very brave at the dentist who was really nice thank goodness and luckily he hadn't damaged his adult teeth but there is a chance he might have discoloured baby teeth but fingers crossed they won't.

Saturday arrived with spring like weather and we met Ben and his grandparents at the park as his mum and dad are away then a big walk and some jobs around the house before lunch. The afternoon we had a visit to uncle Chris and aunty Sue, some shopping and then home for a nice night in.

Sunday was father's day and so I let Adrian have a little sleep in before we woke him up and gave him a coffee and present of a new tool belt which he was very pleased with. He then went to have a brunch on his own at Fidels while I took the boys to the park. We then all met up at oriental parade and had a coffee and a lovely morning at the beach in the sun. It was a perfect day with the sun shinning and the boys had a great time building sand castles and chasing seagulls then home for lunch before we all had a big afternoon nap. We had an afternoon in the garden and a walk in the wagon before the boys fell instantly to sleep and I made a monster curry for dinner...yum....

Hope you all had a great week :)
